ABOUT REDICK CLAY
Ken and Jeanie met at the wedging board in Humphrey's Art Hall at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1972. They simultaneously fell in love with clay, not knowing that years later they would start a production studio together in the hills of Tennessee. Homesteading, living off the land and five children later they moved to Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1991. They both went back to school, changed professions and worked in the health care field for 20 years, always maintaing a clay studio. A pottery workshop to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary at La Meridiana in Certaldo, Italy in 2006 renewed their passion for the creative process of the clay. Similar to the human spirit, it must first be flexible and plyable and yeild to the pressure from the potter's hands, the fragile drying process and eventually the fire for the beauty to be revealed in the glaze. Nature is the biggest influencer of creativity and design. Whether in the sea and the surf or the mountains and the trees, you will see the joy and pleasure of form and function that still drives the purpose and passion of our work. The pottery below is by Master Potter Zeke Redick, aka Ken.
